- Manned, Seated Operation An open-frame, seated configuration means the GD01 is operated by an occupant from within the machine rather than remotely or autonomously alongside a person.
- Biped and Quadruped Modes Official specifications list both two-legged and four-legged locomotion modes, with the machine transforming between them — the platform's defining capability.
- 36 Total Degrees of Freedom Thirty-six degrees of freedom across the platform provide the articulation required for mode transformation and dynamic legged locomotion at this scale.
- Full Electric Actuation Electric actuators drive the machine throughout, in line with Unitree's actuator engineering across its legged robot range.
- Advanced Sensing Suite Onboard sensing handles the state estimation and environmental awareness needed to keep a heavy manned legged machine stable through motion and mode changes.
- Heavy-Duty Flagship Platform Described by Unitree as an intelligent, heavy-duty machine engineered to defy limits, with a manufacturer starting price of USD 650,000 excluding tax and shipping.
Description
The Unitree GD01 is an open-frame, seated, manned transformable mecha — a rideable robotic platform that Unitree describes as an intelligent, heavy-duty machine engineered to defy limits. It sits in a category almost entirely of its own: rather than a robot that works alongside a person, the GD01 is a robot a person occupies and operates from within.
The defining capability is transformation between locomotion modes. Official specifications list both biped and quadruped modes, allowing the machine to switch between an upright two-legged stance and a four-legged configuration. Across the platform, 36 total degrees of freedom driven by electric actuators provide the articulation that transformation and dynamic legged locomotion require, while an advanced sensing suite handles the state estimation and environmental awareness that keep a machine of this size and mass stable in motion.
Unitree lists a starting price of USD 650,000 excluding tax and shipping, which places the GD01 firmly in the flagship, low-volume tier of the company's range. It is a halo platform — acquired by advanced research groups, technology showcases, and high-profile experiential venues rather than deployed as fleet equipment.
Every unit is sourced new through established distribution channels and arrives with the full manufacturer warranty. Robotix Market ships worldwide; after-sales support is coordinated with Unitree's service network, and no on-site installation or commissioning is included.
